What's in your pen

Every BioSyncLabs pen comes with a 3 ml cartridge that's already filled and ready to use. We sell three strengths — check the label on your box to see which one you have:

  • 10 mg pen — 10 mg in 3 ml of liquid
  • 20 mg pen — 20 mg in 3 ml of liquid
  • 30 mg pen — 30 mg in 3 ml of liquid

The pen itself (the purple device) is the same for all three. The only thing that changes is the strength of what's inside the cartridge.

How the dial works

Twist the dial at the top of the pen to choose how much you want to inject. The numbers on the dial are called IU (international units).

  • The dial goes from 1 IU up to 60 IU.
  • 60 IU is the biggest single shot the pen can give you.
  • Each step on the dial pushes out the same tiny amount of liquid, no matter which pen strength you have.
  • If you need more than 60 IU at once, the pen won't let you — you'd have to do two separate shots.

The dial doesn't know what's inside your pen — it just measures how much liquid comes out. So how many mg you actually get depends on which pen you bought (10 mg, 20 mg or 30 mg). The tables below tell you exactly what each setting gives you.

30 mg pen — what each setting gives you

Easy rule: divide the IU number by 10 to get mg.

  • 60 IU (max shot) = 6 mg
  • 50 IU = 5 mg
  • 40 IU = 4 mg
  • 30 IU = 3 mg
  • 20 IU = 2 mg
  • 10 IU = 1 mg
  • 5 IU = 0.5 mg
  • 1 IU = 0.1 mg

20 mg pen — what each setting gives you

Easy rule: every 15 clicks on the dial = 1 mg.

  • 60 IU (max shot) = 4 mg
  • 45 IU = 3 mg
  • 30 IU = 2 mg
  • 15 IU = 1 mg
  • 10 IU0.67 mg
  • 5 IU0.33 mg
  • 1 IU0.07 mg

10 mg pen — what each setting gives you

Easy rule: every 30 clicks on the dial = 1 mg.

  • 60 IU (max shot) = 2 mg
  • 45 IU = 1.5 mg
  • 30 IU = 1 mg
  • 15 IU = 0.5 mg
  • 10 IU0.33 mg
  • 5 IU0.17 mg
  • 1 IU0.03 mg

How to use the pen — step by step

  • . Take the cap off the pen.
  • . Screw a fresh, clean needle onto the tip. Use a new needle every time.
  • . Tap the pen gently so any tiny air bubbles rise to the top.
  • . Prime the pen — turn the dial to 1 or 2 IU, point the needle up, and press the button until a small drop of liquid appears at the tip. This pushes any air out.
  • . Turn the dial to your desired number of IU.
  • . Press the button fully and hold for about 5–10 seconds so all the liquid comes out.
  • . Remove the needle, throw it away safely, and put the pen cap back on.

Storage and care

  • Keep your pen in the fridge (2–8 °C) when you're not using it.
  • Don't freeze it. If the liquid freezes, throw the cartridge away.
  • Keep it away from sunlight and heat.
  • Use within 28 days of opening the pen.
  • Always check the liquid before using — it should be clear (or, for some products, a clean blue colour). If you see anything cloudy, floating, or unusual, don't use it.
  • Always use a brand-new needle for every shot. Never share pens or needles.

Quick answers to common questions

My pen has 30 mg / 3 ml. If I dial 60 IU, how much am I getting? 6 mg. That's the full max shot from a 30 mg pen.

My pen has 20 mg / 3 ml. What does 60 IU give me? 4 mg.

My pen has 10 mg / 3 ml. What does 60 IU give me? 2 mg.

Why doesn't the pen show mg directly? The pen is a generic device — it measures liquid, not strength. That's why the dial says IU. Once you know which pen strength you bought, the tables above tell you exactly what each setting equals in mg.

What if my dial setting isn't in the tables? Find the closest number above and below in the right table — your dose is in between.
